Agarwood is also known by many different names: Aloeswood, Lignum Aloes, Oriental Lignaloes, Xylaloes, Eaglewood, Calambak (used in Cambodia), and Lignum Rhodium—one of the most valuable of all perfume ingredients. Agarwood is the aromatic, resinous wood from the Thymelaeaceae species (Aquilaria Agollocha, also A. Malaccensis A. Crassna), native to Southeast Asia. Agarwood essential oil is either water or steam-distilled from the pulverised Agarwood.
