Liliane and I believe that the most meaningful pieces of jewellery are those created with intention. We recently completed a custom commission for a client who sought a 108-bead mala that was both spiritually significant and perfectly tailored to their lifestyle.
The project began with a specific request for a piece that would wrap comfortably around a 14.2 cm wrist exactly four times. The client envisioned a combination of the earthy depth of Wild Agarwood and the creamy warmth of "old meat" Indian Sandalwood.
Our designer, Liliane, worked closely with the client to select the perfect materials. After discussing various options, they settled on a magnificent 13mm Wild Agarwood guru bead as the focal point, complemented by 6mm Indian Sandalwood body beads.
True craftsmanship involves anticipating needs that the wearer might not yet have considered. Liliane noticed a technical challenge regarding the longevity of the materials and shared her professional advice directly:
"As for sandalwood beads, it is hard to get any string that will last you a long time due to the properties of the oil. Any elastic string will degrade faster compared to Agarwood beads. Therefore, I have designed this mala in a way that you will be able to re-string your mala again and I will send you some extra string for the purpose."
The client was delighted with this level of care and foresight, responding:
"I really appreciate the professional design and the extra strings for future use. It is great to know this mala is built to last. Thank you again for your amazing service!"
To ensure the client could maintain their entire collection, Liliane also included a length of dark green elastic rope to help them adjust a previous bracelet that felt a bit too large.
The Result: A stunning, durable, and aromatic 108-bead mala that is built to last for years to come. When you choose a custom piece from Grandawood, you are not just buying a bracelet; you are participating in a tradition of excellence and personal care.
